Random Pictures of the Month...

Although Elina pulled her socks off, at least half of her feet were warm thanks to her mock Baby Legs (yea for affordable look-a-likes)...I must say I love these little piggies!!!
All bundled up and ready for a stroll...
Umm...can we say "waaaay past time to baby-proof!"
Can you see the little purplish/blue line above Elina's brow? Yep...she had a little run in with the door frame and won her first bruise!...I think I was more upset about it than she was!
These foam bath toys are Elina's absolute favorite toys to play with/chew on!
Wave hello sweet girl!
Is it me or is my baby starting to look like a little girl...I don't think we'll be wearing this outfit again for a while!!! :)
Elina loves getting to visit her Daddy at work!
This was taken the day Elina started crawling...I finally let her get her bow!
(I didn't think she was going to get to wear this outfit...hand-me-down from her cousins Haylee and Reagan...but sure enough we ended up with a record breaking temp on the 22nd...85!!!

Elina's New Tricks...

January 4th...she rolls intentionally!!!

Later that evening (I think!?!)...she scoots like she's in basic training!!!

Elina started sitting herself up on New Year's Eve, but on January 11th she started clapping for herself as you can see here...

And for her encore...

(recorded January 22nd)

Our New Game

So we have a new game that we like to play in our house...
It all started when I was holding Elina one day, Jason walked into the room, and she jumping forward into my arms for me to hold her safe. She thought he was going to "get" her. It was so precious because it wasn't a fear thing (we knew this because she had the biggest smile on her face!)...she just knows that Daddy likes to tickle her and she automatically thought he was going to do so that day when he walked in the room. So...thus our new game was born! When I realized I wanted to take some video of this, we had already been playing for a while so she already had the hiccups. If you remember, she gets the hiccups everytime she laughs hard. So, once the hiccups come it's not quite the same since she's trying to keep from hiccupping (is that a word?) Anyway, here's a little taste of our favorite game...

For some reason Jason had some "monkey" urges during these moments...don't worry honey...we love you for reasons just like that! (and more of course!)...
I especially love how the monkey came out during the first clip, but then you surpressed it during the second (probably b/c I made mention of it)! Too Cute! Don't ever hold back for Elina (or me!) we love everything about you!
Speaking of monkeys...next time you're around Jason you might ask him to make a monkey noise (or any animal noise for that matter!)...he's the best at making animal sounds...especially the Coca Cola Polar Bear!

Daddy's Music...

So while Jason was practicing for leading worship New Year's Eve, I noticed the following while I was passing by (so of course I had to grab the camera!)

Isn't Jason so good at what he does!
I'm so thankful for you honey!...I love that you allow the Lord to use you!
And I must say that it melted my heart to see my little girl sitting and looking up at her daddy (she really did watch him for the longest time before getting distracted...I just didn't catch it all)...I'm so thankful she loves music...that's an answer to prayer!
And finally...no those aren't piles and piles of laundry on the couch!...I never let the laundry go like that!...ha! I wish...that just happens to be my "folding station". It's funny (or something like that) that inevitably I get the laundry washed, dried, and sometimes even folded...and that where it stops. Why can't those clothes get to where they are supposed to be? What's worse is when my husband comes home and notices the green couch!!!

Elina's First Virus...

Elina was coughing most of the day on Friday (Jan. 9th), so I figured she might be getting sick. However, I never expected to hear what I heard out of her room later that night. At first it sounded like a man (which scared the fire out of me!)...then I realized that "man" was really a "barking seal" which was really my little girl!!! Jason got out The Baby Book, by Dr. Sears, (Thank you Emily!) and we determined she may have the Croup! Thankfully Dr. Sears outlined the virus in two different categories: When to be concerned and When to be not so concerned. Elina's symptoms fell into the not so concerning category. Either way, we still had a Very long night! She woke up with the same cough the next morning (and I use the term "woke up" very loosely...we were up and down all night). Saturday was filled with much coughing, runny nose, and fevers. The barking seal left our house, but everything else remained for the next several days. We went to the doctor (we love our doc!!!) on Monday and he prescribed breathing treatments for her weezing and told me what to expect for the next few days. Sure enough, every thing he said has come true so far. Her fevers subsided Wednesday. Coughing showed up mostly early am and late pm on Thursday. (I'm typing this Friday morning) We're still waiting to see how Friday is going to go...but I am prayerfully expecting continued progress! One of the bigger concerns though mid-week was dehydration since she wasn't really eating. That lasted mostly just Wed. and Thurs. I did notice and increase in appetite and willingness to nurse throughout the night Thurs. and Fri. am. Yay!!!

When Elina woke up coughing that first night we knew that she needed to sleep upright, so she "slept" on my chest in the recliner that night. However, Ellie just sleeps more soundly in her crib (sick or not), so we knew we'd have to prop up her mattress. This has worked well for her with the exception of two occasions!
I found her one morning with the bottom half of her body wedged between the mattress and the crib rails. She was fussing but thankfully not sreaming!...No...the screaming came when I was blow drying my hair. Since I was drying my hair I don't actually know how long she was screaming (trust me...I still feel horrible about this!). Anyway, I found her with her arm flailing between the crib rails (no pics of course!...I had to rescue my baby!). It's only a little funny now, but at the time we were quite worked up...my poor baby was just plain stuck! She was fine though. We haven't lower the crib yet since she still has the yuck in her lungs...we're just watching all the more closely!

Here we are during a couple of breathing treatments. Notice our penguin friend!?!?...isn't that a cute nebulizer...we are so thankful for insurance!!!

Over all...Elina has been such a trooper! She has her moments of feeling just down right Yuck!, but then there are moments like these...

Even though she was sick all week...Elina did something brand new...her "claps" make a sound!!!
More to come!...

Talking...

This was the Sunday morning after Christmas. We were at Jason's parent's house since Jason was leading worship at their church that day. Apparently I was taking a bit too long getting ready because someone was growing impatient! :) However, it did cause Elina to share many more "words" than she normally does so I had to catch all this talking on video...which of course delayed me even more...she wasn't too happy about that either!
(Shout out the the Spencer's...thank you for this adorable dress!)

Practicing for Presents...

I week or so before Christmas, Elina got a hold of a napkin and ripped it to shreds. Jason and I got such a kick out of her aggression and intensity while ripping that we just had to let her do it all over again...this time camera in hand of course. When Elina saw that Jason got the camera out this is what happened...

Then she refocused and got busy!

On Rare Occasions...

some things happen that are just so precious you want to hold onto it forever. On this occasion I was holding Elina (while I was on the phone with Amber...remember this Amber?) and she just laid her head down. I told Amber about it and about the fact that she NEVER does this (she's just not much of a cuddler)...I couldn't help but grab the camer when I got off the phone. The only thing about wanting to capture something on video or in picture so that you can have a tangible memory of it "forever" is that I think somehow you miss out on being in the moment...the whole moment. I told Jason recently about this...I struggle with wanting to grab the camera all the time that I end up missing out on enjoying the entire moment

So I'm torn...but for now...here's a little momento of our sweet moment together one quiet morning...

Dancing Monkey Toy...

(Videos taken a few weeks before Christmas)

This Musical Monkey Toy is a "hand me down"...I'm pretty sure it is supposed to play more than just the same tune over and over and over again! :) Either way, we are thankful for it and for the amount of fun and entertainment it brings Elina! :)

Notice that she trys to pull up in this clip...

...We call this singing in our home! :) ...

...a little clapping action...a little awe struck by the dancing monkey...and then a little beauty queen waving to finish everything off...

Elina's First Christmas...

Visit www.moblyng.com to make your own!

Can you tell I'm sick?

Not right now!...this was back in November too! This was Elina's first actual cold, and since we had to stay home from church I figured it was as good of time as any to snap some pics! How could I pass up this face! :)
Elina really is the best baby in the world...even when she's sick! She mostly just had a stuffy/runny nose (to this day I don't understand how you can have both at the same time!)

She also loves to kiss the baby in the Mirror! :)
